May 28, 2026 - FASSelangor FC’s ASEAN campaign came to an end after a 2-1 defeat to Buriram United FC in the second leg of the ACC Shopee Cup™ Final, resulting in a 3-1 aggregate victory in favour of the home side at Buriram Stadium.
The Red Giants started brightly and dominated the opening 20 minutes with a wave of attacks in search of an early goal. In the 18th minute, Syahir Bashah scored from outside the penalty area, giving the team a boost to continue fighting. However, Suphanat Mueanta equalised in the 27th minute. The first half ended 1-1.
The team continued to press in the second half, creating several dangerous chances and recording seven shots on target. However, a goal from Theerathon Bunmathan in the 55th minute restored Buriram United FC’s advantage. The Red Giants kept pushing until the final whistle but were unable to close the aggregate gap. Buriram United FC successfully retained their ACC Shopee Cup™ crown for a second consecutive season.
According to Selangor FC Head Coach Kim Pan-gon, he was proud of his players for displaying the team’s identity and character despite falling short of lifting the ACC Shopee Cup™ 2025/26 trophy.
“First of all, congratulations to Buriram United FC. I am very proud of my players and the performance they showed. They played extremely well against a strong side like Buriram and, tactically, they followed the game plan exactly as we had prepared. I would also like to thank the supporters who came and gave their backing throughout the match. Overall, I feel very positive and have no regrets about the team’s performance,” he said regarding the players’ performance last night.
“This season, we have worked hard to build the team’s identity and character. The players showed that character with great confidence and fighting spirit. I think we should have performed better at home, but last night they showed good mentality and belief. I am extremely proud of them,” Kim Pan-gon concluded during the post-match press conference following the #BRUSFC clash.
The Selangor FC management would also like to express our deepest gratitude to the supporters who travelled to Buriram, Thailand, and passionately backed the team last night. See you next season, Red Giants!
